Fr. Ronan Sarmiento was born and raised in the Philippines. It was there that he did his early education including his preparations for the priesthood. After finishing his philosophical studies, he became a teacher of Music and Religion in the Bahamas where he served St. Francis de Sales Catholic School for almost ten years.
In 2019, Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas and Fr. Ronan lost everything he owned there, including his school. He moved to the US Virgin Islands to restart life upon the invitation of Bishop Jerome Feudjio. It was while in the Virgin Islands that his desire to go back to the seminary became stronger.
He was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of St. Thomas where he was eventually sent to St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida in August 2020 to pursue his studies in Sacred Theology. He was ordained to the sacred of priesthood on June 5, 2024 following the completion of his studies.
On January 15, 2025, Bishop Jerome Feudjio appointed Fr. Ronan as the Parish Administrator of St. Anne Parish in Frenchtown and on July 1, 2025, as the Principal of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School.

Born 1985 in the Philippines, Fr Ronan Sarmiento did his education there until after his philosophical studies. He discontinued formation towards the priesthood and was a tutor of Music and Religion for almost 10 years in the Bahamas.
A hurricane destroyed everything he owned there, and he moved to the US Virgin Islands to restart life. It was while the Virgin Islands, still as a tutor, that his desire to go back to the seminary became stronger.
He followed this pull from the Lord, and eventually went to Florida to pursue his studies in Sacred Theology. He has been ordained following the completion of his studies.
Before the close of the Mass, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Fr Marcel Gham, announced that Bishop Feudjio had appointed Fr Ronan as the Parochial Vicar of the Cathedral Parish. He would work as the Assistant of Fr Joseph Toko, the Rector of the Cathedral, while also serving as the Vice Principal of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic School in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas.
